Court FrontAdmitted to Practice before the Supreme Court of the United States of America, June 1991; admitted before the Federal District Court for the Northern District of New York and the Courts in and for the State of New York, January 1979. Judge Trachtenberg has appeared of counsel in District Court for firms outside the Capital District. Judge Trachtenberg served as Niskayuna Town Justice from January 1, 1988 through December 31, 1995. He is the successor to Trachtenberg and Rothschild, a law firm at the present address from May of 1980 to April 1982. He has been a Law Guardian; an attorney assigned to represent children in Family Court and Supreme Court proceedings, for eighteen years.

A Labor Arbitrator, Judge Trachtenberg has been a labor panel member of the American Arbitration Association since 1984. He was a designated panel member for Wappingers Falls School District and New York City School Board and United Federation of Teachers for a number of years, and is a 3020a and PERB New York/Council 82 Disciplinary procedure panel member. Matrimonial Arbitration has been informal and also through Empire Mediation & Arbitration, Inc.

Other legal experience includes service as Assistant Corporation Counsel, City of Schenectady, New York; housing matters, fall of 1979, then retained labor attorney for three years. He was the full time Paralegal Instructor, Schenectady County Community College, Washington Avenue, Schenectady, New York 1978-1979 school year and Paralegal Club service award recipient. Summer of 1979 he served in the Office of the Sullivan County District Attorney, Monticello, New York.

Judge Trachtenberg received his Juris Doctor degree from Albany Law School of Union University in 1978. He is a graduate of the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations and Orange County Community College.
